Discover the New Code of Practice on Standardization for Researchers
The European Commission has published a new Code of Practice on Standardization for Researchers. The Code provides a set of recommendations to beneficiaries of public-funded research and innovation programmes on how to valorise project results through standardization. The recommendations also target universities and public research organizations, policymakers, and standard development organizations (SDOs).
The Code of Practice is a hands-on guidance that provides a set of recommendations grouped under 3 sections:
- For higher education institutions and research and innovation organisations to build relevant capacities
- For beneficiaries of EU, national and local research and innovation programmes to take inspiration from best practices
- For the policy level, including European, national and local authorities and standards development organisations, to take into account recommendations that will help everyone to use standardisation as an effective tool to harness results from research and innovation projects.
The European Commission’s DG RTD will launch a communication campaign in the coming weeks, with the aim to raise awareness on the new guiding principles for knowledge valorisation and to promote the two newly published codes of practices, namely the Code of Practice on the Management of Intellectual Assets and the Code of Practice on Standardization for Researchers. The awareness raising campaign will run for a period of 18 months, starting in spring 2023.
