Meet ZOOOM Partners: Aalborg University
You can find below a short interview with our partner Aalborg University, represented by Andy Peruccon, Amalia de Götzen, Ronald Chenú Abente Acosta.
Could you share a bit about your organization or university, including your role in the ZOOOM project? What expertise does your team bring to the table?
The Service Design Lab is a welcoming and inclusive research lab dedicated to studying and applying service design as an exploratory, co-creative and empowering approach to address broad issues of societal concern. Key themes of interest are social innovation, design for policies, co-creation, urban transition, and service design for the public sector, to name just a few. The team behind the Service Design Lab has long and consolidated experience in research and innovation actions and EU-funded research. Typical areas of interventions are related to (1) design-oriented methods and tools that enable co-creation processes and stakeholders’ engagement for the definition of socio-technical ecosystems and interactions that support the generation of value in services; (2) technological aspects of service design and digital social innovation, emerging technology and ways to integrate them into service design practice, service design and the city, smart cities and urban changes, mobility and other relevant urban phenomena; and (3) civic service design: service design for public administrations, for cultural events and to support migrants and disadvantaged communities.
What motivated you to join the ZOOOM project? What aspects of the project resonated with your goals or interests?
We decided to join the ZOOOM project because we saw an opportunity in applying Service Design and Co-Design in a new context and we were interested in the possibility of developing a digital tool that could support several stakeholders in the Open Innovation realm.
Looking back, what do you consider the key achievements of the ZOOOM project so far? How has your organization benefited from being part of this initiative?
Within the project we have contributed to the initial user research, identifying the relevant stakeholder and their main characteristics, defining the archetypes that could benefit from the ZOOOM toolkit. We are now in the process of developing both the toolkit and the training modules that will be of high relevance for our university, in particular for our Incubator and the TTO.
How do you see the future of open source in the EU, particularly in terms of technological innovation, legal frameworks, and social or economic impacts? What challenges or gaps do you think still need to be addressed?
Given that we are not experts on the matter, the biggest gap that we see is the one we are trying to address in this project: making aware the relevant innovators and stakeholders of the possibilities and implications related to the 3Os and ensuring democratic access to technological solutions/services.
