It will help them to understand different types of intellectual property rights and how can they transfer those rights to others. Introduction (Description of Module’s content) | This module highlights the significance of licensing in open-source projects. Firstly, the idea of open source is explained. It continues with an introduction to intellectual property rights and explanation of different IP rights that can be embedded in an open-source project. Then, the term “licence” is defined and basic licensing terms are described. Upon that, licensing in open source is explained and open-source licenses are classified into two main categories: permissive and copyleft. Then, reciprocal licenses are explained. It finishes with some recommendations for choosing the right license for a project. |
